Welcome
Hi, I'm Phil Marklin, one of two counselors here at Powder Springs Elementary. I am in my 7th year here at Powder Springs. I work with the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades, although not exclusively as Ms. White, our other counselor, and myself are available to any of our 925 students. I thought that a little introduction might be a good way to begin this blog to enable you to know a little more about me.
I am a Tennessean by birth and attended a small religious college in Nashville. I graduated there in 1972 and then went on to receive a Master of Divinity degree in 1975. I was a pastor for 16 years and moved to Marietta in 1991. I received my Master of Psychology with a Speciality in Counseling in 1995. I worked as a therapist for a crisis counseling service and spent 2 years working as a DFCS Child Abuse investigator. I came to Powder Springs Elementary in 1999 as counselor. I have been married for 37 years and have 3 children and 1 grandchild (who just happens to be the cutest grandchild ever).
On future postings I look forward to sharing with you some information that you can use to help you as a parent and help your child to be successful as a student at school. I am always willing to talk to any parent about any situation with your child and work in any way that I can to help out.
Phil
