Why writing in kindergarten?
Our Kindergarten students are busy writing, telling their stories, using their words and pictures. Did you know as they write they are hitting each standard in our Language Arts curriculum? Every time they "stretch" a word to use in their writing they are practicing all of their phonics skills covered during classroom instruction. As they plan and compose their stories they are practicing story elements such as sequence, setting, character and events. As they share what they have written they are practicing all of their speaking skills and their developing reading skills. What better way to provide performance based instruction for our youngest learners and make it authentic for them as well?
