Hello Mrs. Lloyd's class. This is my first blog of the 2007 school year. I finally was able to unlock my login and I'm ready to go. Please read the blog everyday so that you will know what we are doing. That way, you can talk to your son about his day and help him with things he may be having trouble understanding.
We had a little treat this morning because they were so well-behaved on the field trip - a breakfast muffin. I wanted to let them know I appreciated their cooperation on the trip. Thanks also to all the parents who came along to help out and have a nice experience with their son. It was a fun day.
Today we spent a great deal of time on math. We are reviewing the entire school year so far for the IMI math assessment we will take on Tuesday. I prepared a review test for them to do. We went over the entire thing today, practicing all of the types of questions that will be on the IMI. I didn't think it was fair not to have them reminded of the skills we worked on so long ago. They did well on the review and remembered more that I thought they would. I was pleased. Please study with them for the test on Tuesday. They should tell you tonight about the review and should have it in their folders. We also wrote letters to our men and women in the service who are stationed around the world, to thank them for volunteering to keep our country safe and to wish them a happy Thanksgiving. After that, we reviewed several English topics of study - contractions, plural nouns, consonant digraphs, long a sound (spelled ai and ay as in plain and day) and the r controlled a sound (ar as in star).
Have a great weekend and I hope to see you at the Fall Festival. DL
